Training in Nicosia/Cyprus June, 2010

Rigorous Dynamic Analysis of General Structures

The purpose of the training is to achieve an advanced level of competence in the use of computer software by structural engineers who are involved in the modeling of structural systems for dynamic analysis in general and for earthquake response spectrum dynamic analysis in particular. Procedures will be presented for solving large-scale Eigen solution problems, as well as for solving structural response associated with rigorous response spectrum earthquake analysis, time history transient analysis using both modal superposition and direct integration methods, maximum response harmonic analysis, and steady state harmonic analysis. The software system called GTSTRUDL will be used as an example of software that may be used for such rigorous dynamic analysis procedures. Special attention will be paid to the correct interpretation of dynamic analysis results for structural design purposes
